Animal Control


The Animal Control Officer responds to the City of Whitehall citizens’ request for service year round and on call for emergencies dispatched by the Whitehall Division of Police. The Animal Control Officer also works with Code Enforcement and the Service Department to enforce the Property Management Codes.

The Animal Control Officer responds to animal related calls such as:
  • Animal bites
  • Animals running at large
  • Barking dog complaints
  • Cruelty complaints

  • Nuisance conditions
  • Sick or injured animals
  • Tracing license or rabies tags

Pet Licensing & Permit - County Requirement

Residents must have their dogs licensed through the Franklin County Auditor as well as dogs and cats over three months of age must have current rabies immunizations, to which tags must be displayed at all times. Dogs found, even on the owners property, not displaying current tags can be impounded. Dog licenses can be purchased online or at the Dog Shelter located at 4340 Tamarack Blvd. in Columbus.
