Friends of the Parks Tree Planting

Location: Whitehall Community Park
Help Whitehall Community Park keep growing and join Parks and Recreation in planting 600 seedling trees. This is a wonderful opportunity to get involved with the Parks Department, while helping the beautification process in Whitehall Community Park. Food, refreshments and shovels provided. Get in touch with your inner Artist with this step-by-step paint class hosted by Paint Parties for Fun! In this class you will follow the instructor as they guide you each step along the way to create a unique and beautiful piece of art. Space is limited so you MUST pre-register. $5 Payment should be included when registering
Rockets with the Fire Chief
Friday 5/3, 6-7pm
Location: Heartland Bank
3, 2, 1... LIFTOFF! Build and Launch model rockets with the coolest Fire Chief around with Whitehall Division of Fire's Chief Preston Moore. For ages 8 and up. All materials are provided at no cost. Participants must pre-register by calling 614-863-0121.
Hang out in the park after the rocket workshop to enjoy the Citywide Star Party!

Disc Golf Clinic: Wednesdays in May
Some of the best disc golf instructors on the East-side have volunteered once again to help teach the wonderful and active sport of Disc Golf to the Whitehall Community. This is a great opportunity to come out and learn the sport while seeing all of the new and exciting things Whitehall Community Park has to offer. Classes begin at 6 pm and will end around 7:30 pm. Meet at the south end of the Whitehall Community Park parking lot.
Basketball Clinic: Starting the Second Monday in June
Championship winning coach Lorrie Poindexter will be taking the lead for this exciting opportunity to help coach and develop the basketball skills of the youth in our community. Targeting children from ages 7-12 you will learn different drills and techniques to improve their basketball game. Classes will begin at 6:30 pm and end around 8 pm. Meeting at the basketball courts in John Bishop Park.
Archery Clinic: Starting the Third Tuesday in July
Go from beginner to Hawkeye in this three-week intensive archery program. Taught by a USA Archery certified instructor youth will begin learning the basics of what a bow and arrow is to ending with the ability to consistently hit the target. Archery classes will be offered throughout the summer leading up the the beginning of this clinic. Class begin at 6 pm and will end around 7:30 pm. Meet at the lower level of Whitehall Community Park near the Shelter house.
Soccer Clinic: Starting the Second Wednesday in August
With so many people requesting to have soccer in the parks again, Parks and Recreation has partnered with Whitehall United Methodist Church to offer this clinic for everyone! This is designed for anybody with an interest in the sport of soccer, whether a seasoned player or someone brand new to the soccer pitch there is something for everyone. Classes begin at 5pm and will end around 6:30pm. Meet at Whitehall Community Park near the shelter house at the lower level.
YMCA Partner Programs
Check out amazing after-school programs offered in partnership through the YMCA, Whitehall City Schools and Parks and Recreation.

After school for kindergarten through 5th grade students at C. Ray Williams Early Childhood Center from 3:00 - 6:00 p.m. daily. Homework help is provided for 20-30 minutes. Ongoing enrollment; spring 2017 rate: $45/week.
After-School Enrichment Program
2nd grade through middle school students at multiple schools from 3:00 - 5:30 p.m. daily. Homework help, tutoring and food provided for participants. Sign up prior to November, annually.
After-School Middle School and High School Study Tables and Meals
Offered for the first hour after school. High school students can also stay for an additional hour on select days.
