The Department of Human Resources plays a critical role in promoting effective and efficient municipal government operations.  It supports departments in recruiting, hiring, retaining and developing a high quality workforce capable of delivering the services that the citizens of Whitehall need and deserve.  HR recognizes that its employees are the City's most important resource and strives to ensure that they are treated fairly and are recognized for their contributions to the City of Whitehall.  As a relatively new department, HR has worked on building a solid foundation and has made progress towards greater consistency within the City.

Other areas of responsibility include ensuring compliance with applicable employment laws, managing workers compensation and promoting safety awareness in the workplace, facilitating employee and labor relations, new employee orientation, performance management,  training and development, benefits administration, and other employment related functions.
