Whitehall City Council is currently considering legislation that would place the Safer Whitehall Levy issue on the May 2022 Primary Election Ballot, asking Whitehall residents whether or not to approve a 2.822 mill property tax levy to support the Whitehall Division of Police.
Specifically, proceeds from the levy would be 100% dedicated by law to police operations and capital expenses, including an expansion and renovation of the Division of Police Station, the hiring of six new sworn officers and Whitehall returning to in-house police, fire and emergency medical service dispatching.
